Wondering what the stars have in store for you and your running this January?

The one and only Russell Grant brings his latest spookily accurate fitness horoscopes to The Running Bug.

 

Aries (Mar21/Apr20) Professionally you are taking on more and more. Responsibilities in all areas of your life are increasing and stress can have a negative impact on your health. Be sure to exercise regularly even if this means annoying those who expect you to be at their beck and call all day every day. Exercise will not only be a great stress reliever but will improve your mood and make you feel ready to take on the challenges coming your way throughout January.

Taurus (Apr21/May21) Travel will bring a welcome opportunity to allow all the stresses and strains of the past few weeks to drain away. If you get to enjoy a change of scene as 2011 begins, you will feel happier, more relaxed and spiritually uplifted. Just be sure to avoid extravagance. You love a good excuse to let your hair down and there has been plenty chance to do just that of late. But this month, go easy on the eating, drinking and other expenses.

Gemini (May22/June21) You’re full of good intentions as the year begins and you are determined to get your body back in shape. You might be thinking about starting a diet or some form of strenuous exercise program. Working out too hard could be counterproductive when not only will you feel you should see faster results but you could put yourself off because you are pushing your body to the extreme. Choose something less demanding and you are more likely to stick it out.

Cancer (June22/July23) It is a perfect time of the year to get rid of your bad habits. Once you make your New Year Resolutions, aim to stick to them. You are aware of the effects toxins have on your body but some habits are hard to quit. Even if you had a go at quitting something you enjoy but isn’t good for you, in the past but failed miserably, don’t let this put you off now. Stay positive and if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again!

 Leo (July24/Aug23) You’ve always been creative and no matter what your age, you are never too old to play. No one should be allowed to make you feel guilty because having fun and being playful is an important part of your make-up. Once the year gets underway and career and other responsibilities start taking over, make room in your life for pleasure. Play at least once a week and this will help keep you feeling young, alive and active.


Virgo (Aug24/Sept23) There continues to be a strong emphasis on fun and pleasure. This phase is likely to last almost until the end of the month which means it won’t be easy to find the discipline to stick with your usual fitness routines. You won’t be pushing yourself too hard and in a way this will be good for you. It isn’t often you feel so relaxed and easy-going. Even so, by the end of January you will be thinking more seriously about your health and what you might do to get in shape.

Libra (Sept24/Oct23) Expect to spend more time than usual, as the year begins, at home with your family. You would prefer to choose home exercise workouts rather than have to travel to the gym. Clearing all the clutter around the house after the recent festivities will also help keep you feeling healthy. Sleep is an important need, this month. Do your best to get a full eight hours sleep every night especially if you are taking on new responsibilities.


Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) Whatever your fitness level, the start of the year is a great time to establish a healthier lifestyle. Make it your New Year’s Resolution to change your habits and to start a regular diet and exercise program. A friend might introduce you to an excellent workout DVD that will get you into tip-top shape. Family members may agree to join you in getting fit and you could find some fun things to do together.


Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) Look after your health as 2011 gets underway. Exercise in small doses if you have just joined a gym or you aren’t used to working out regularly. Why not walk or cycle to work or, if you live too far away, go for regular walks during your lunch hours. Walk, run, get involved in a sport you enjoy and before you know it you will have burned of loads of calories without it even being a chore!

Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) Although this is a great time for you to make new starts, you could easily overwork yourself and this won’t be good for you. Try to keep strict tabs on your diet as 2011 begins. Be prepared to postpone social arrangements that aren’t important if this might give you more breathing space and more time to think. If you don’t have a lot of time to exercise at least do something that makes you breathe harder for ten minutes every day as this will be good for you.

Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) Too much excitement can sometimes upset your equilibrium. Something secretive is going on and if all goes according to plan, your life could be changing dramatically very soon. Nervousness could cause aches and pains or stomach upsets. Lay off the booze, spicy food and anything that might bring out an allergic reaction. You need a clear head as January gets underway and you will want to be as healthy as possible.



Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) Yoga and meditation will help develop your mental faculties and this will in turn enhance your health. A healthy mind is a good foundation on which to start building a healthy body. If you lead a busy lifestyle, or find it hard to meditate with children running around the house, either drop your kids off at a child minder’s to make a little me-time for yourself or make some space in your evenings to relax and focus on priorities that are likely to be good for your health.
