A trot along the lane from Nether Heyford to the Narrow Boat on the A5, saw my training start again tonight. 10 mins jog, 5 mins walk and 15 jog was the target, simply because those were the intervals in my phone!! Just failed to get to the one mile mark before the 10 minute alarm beeped.
Anyway it did not work out that way as I was not at my best on the way back and I didn't want to over do it. Even so, the jog back was quicker than the 10 and 5 combined for the outward leg.
Thanks for the kind words CC. I sent you a friend request, I think?
Yep...i got it.....thanks.
Well done john, bet it feels great to be back running...
Welcome back John.
Day 2 of comeback : I was back at my digs early so went out across the fields. Jogged 10 mins and walked 5, then jogged almost 15. I stopped before it beeped to say time up and walked about 2 mins. Didnt have far to go so jogged a couple of leccy poles then walked a couple till I got back. It does indeed feel good! Got to get fit for the cruise!!
Rested yesterday as I had little time to get out anyway. Today had a jog/walk through the park. Stomach acid was the worst thing! God, I eat some rubbish and never learn. Did a half hour, continually feeling for signs of calf problems coming on, but apart from that I enjoyed it in the sunshine and with the autumn colours.
Well done John, i hope soon you get out for a run and your calf problems dont even spring to mind. I know the feeling of constantly looking out for problems and it gets to be a pain.
Im sure a few good runs under your belt and it will stop.
Did you ever get a physio and if so how are they about you running
Been concentrating on a bit of cycling for a week as the club went up to Ambleside YHA on Saturday, back on Sunday. Fronts of thighs are feeling it still, but otherwise OK. Will try a jog when they are not so tender.
Trout: my physio experience was not good.
thats such a shame John...what happened. Would you like me to ask my physio if thees any way to find a good one in your area? Long shot i know, but worth it it you find a good one...take care
Got out for a jog in the park on Saturday morning. Just about 20 mins with a good stretch before going out.
Monday evening did a 2 mile out and back down the lane from Nether Heyford. Timed it at 18.20. It was very cold and I had no hat! Had my twinkly arm bands on tho' and my reflective Sam Brown. That made the drivers think!!
After a long day in the van I was feeling like a quick outing when I got back to Nether Heyford. Stretched and got out at around 9.15. Soon realised that the 'thing' in my right calf was going to play up so I walked back. Massaged with Tiger Balm before retiring.
Sorry to hear that John......how come physio was no good? Not a runner?
I'm loving this training diary!
Rah: I am glad to be of some use.:D
Trout: The physio did not tell me anything new. I know that makes me sound like a smart a r s e, but I have been at it a while and the internet has so much info too. He used to be the physio for Blackburn Rovers FC and obviously knows his stuff. The result of my consultation was him asking me to try a wedge in my right shoe to see if it made any difference to the 'thing' that happens in my calf muscles. It didn't help at all and I had another rest!!
I was talking my running hassles through with a chap on the hostelling weekend and his advice was 'run in the morning'. It does make sense. My legs are so tense after driving all day. The trouble is, do I have the will to get up earlier?!! :/
Only thirty days to 'the cruise'!
