Feet don't fail me now
Take me to the finish line
All my heart, it breaks every step that I take
But I'm hoping that the gates,
They'll tell me that you're mine
Walking through the city streets
Is it by mistake or design?
I feel so alone on a Friday night
Can you make it feel like home, if I tell you you're mine
                                 - Lana Del Rey, Born To Die

So 'Born to Die' is one of my favourite tracks at the moment when I'm out running particularly for the opening line. It's a plea, begging my body to carry on and don't stop.

Some people can simply run but I need music to take my focus off the actual running and trick me into thinking that something enjoyable is happening.

So I have created my own running playlist and thought I would share some of my songs with you and give a reason why it's on my running list - would love to know what everyone else's favourite running track is!

Born To Die - Lana Del Rey - just love the opening sentence and it gets me in the mood for what's about to come.

You and I - Lady Gaga - the video for this is awesome but her bloodied and bruised feet come to mind when I hear this and although my feet won't look that bad they are going to take a battering!

Earthquake - Labrinth feat. Tinie Tempah - awesome bass beat and really good for stretching out my stride although I want to start dancing when it comes on.

Proud - Heather Small - I usually sing along to this under my breath and I am VERY proud of all this running I am doing so it's pretty apt really.

All About Tonight - Pixie Lott - fun, pop, sickly sweet. Love it!

Antidote - Swedish House Mafia vs Knife Party - a huge fan of SHM and I went to one of their gigs in London last year which was just jaw-dropping.

Domino - Jessie J - this girl is a huge talent and I hope she does well at the Brits tonight. Also wish I could sing like her (just a little bit) although strangled cats come to mind. :(

Drunk - Ed Sheeran - is what I will be after I cross that finish line. Yeah right! Drunk on fresh air and hyperventilating into a brown paper bag!

Good Feeling - Flo RIda - love that Mr. Rida is such an optimist.

I Need - Maverick Sabre - I need a taxi to get me to the end of the race?!

I'm Not Alone - Calvin Harris - most definitely true as I know there are other 'bugs' and random strangers out there running just like me.

Jealousy - Will Young - I wish that I could look as good as some of the runners that I see out and about.

Lightning - The Wanted - a bit moody but still pure pop.

Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - snake hips I may be, just have to get my groove on when I hear that song and have you noticed that everyone seems to pout when this song comes on? Presumably they want lips like Mick?

People Help The People - Birdy - this is a really beautiful song and if you haven't heard it you should go and either buy it or download it RIGHT NOW!

Prayin' - Plan B - I'm just prayin' to finish my runs and not get injured!

Radioactive - Marina And The Diamonds - very catchy lyrics and a good solid song to run to.

Runaway Baby - Bruno Mars - I'm trying Bruno, honest I am.

Sexy And I Know It - LMFAO - hahahahahahahaha! I think I can skip over this one............

Shake It Out - Florence And The Machine - Florence Welch is my style icon and she is so gazelle like running round in her videos. Wonder if she's ever considered doing the London Marathon? Might drop her an email...

Sweet Dreams - Beyonce - 'turn the lights on!'

We Found Love - Calvin Harris feat Rihanna - this was a great collaboration and the rythm just keeps me going.

So what is your favourite track when you're out running and gets you in the mood? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next week!

  • I will definitely give some of your favourite tracks a try. I wrote my favourite track list for running to a couple of weeks ago for another running friend, and it goes as follows:

    Lose Yourself – Eminem

    Beat It – Michael Jackson

Don’t Give Up – Chicane with Bryan Adams

    Beautiful Day – U2

Get Outta My Way – Kylie Minogue

All My Life – Foo Fighters

Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen

Boys and Girls – Pixie Lott

    Gold – Spandau Ballet

An eclectic mix, but that kind of sums me up! Hope you enjoy trying one or two of these

  • Some great choices so far.

I've just ordered a couple of CDs by the Legendary Stardust Cowboy and planning to make him my next running soundtrack. His stuff is, um.... "interesting". I've found Fratellis and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are good to run to as well.

Also, it's worth googling Eddie Pedalo. He does some fantastic upbeat mash-ups that are usually available to download.

  • I've gone for some classics.

All Fired Up - Pat Benetar

    Footloose - Kenny Loggins

Most of the Rocky IV soundtrack with a bit of Queen and Bon Jovi mixed in

  • Here are some of my favourite running tunes. I tend to like stuff that is hard rocking, with an agressive edge but also slightly silly - it makes me smile and keeps me going.

    Bomber - Motorhead

Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin

    Ballroom Blitz - The Sweet

Pretty Vacant - The Sex Pistols

Too Drunk To **** - The Dead Kennedies

There's A guy Works Down The Chip Shop.....- Kirsty Macoll

    Turning Japanese - The Vapors

    School Days - AC-DC

    David Watts - The Jam

Know Your Product - The Saints

Mission Impossible - James Taylor Quartet

    Telephone - Lady Gaga

    Enter The Sandman - Metallica

  • I am loving some of these music choices! Thanks everyone!
