NAME: Fearne Cotton
FAMOUS FOR: Radio1 Presenter and TV Personality
In 2005, Fearne told the Telegraph: “I love to jog: fresh air, trees and my iPod.” Last year, Fearne upped her game and went from a jog in the park to her first half marathon, The Bath Half which she ran in respectable 2:01. There had been word that she was to run the marathon in 2012 for Team PB, the London Marathon’s official charity for 2012, but so far, there’s no sign of a marathon. However, at aged, 31 and with a bit of running under her belt, surely it’s only a matter of time?
She’s a bit of an all-rounder and gym-junkie and does lots of fitness-related stuff for Comic Relief, including climbing Mount Kilamanjaro with a whole host of other stars in 2011. She’s got a fitness base from dancing and describes herself as a ‘trained dancer’ who’s been dancing since she was five.
For Bath she trained with her friend Kye Sones, lead singer of the band Diagram of the Heart. She said she trained every day and she told the celebrity expert Dean Piper’s website: “It’s tough – really tough in fact. We pushed ourselves this week but are going to stick to an eight-mile run this week… We’ll get there in the end – but whether we do a full marathon is another thing entirely.”
Fearne did all the hard work for the breast cancer charity Coppa Feel!, and was part of a team called 100 Hooters Do A Half. They raised money to help develop and implement education and awareness campaigns to get young people to check their breasts for signs of the cancer that kills thousands every year.
And Fearne’s still going strong and enjoying her running, as well as taking part in the Sport Relief Mile in March 2012, she’s still enjoying her jogs, no doubt with her iPod. Just before the Sport Relief event, she tweeted “A nice 7k run in the London sunshine. Perfect way to start the weekend!”
